Shortly after World War I, the Belgians rediscovered the Ales. Several Ales were then invented in Belgium to meet this new public taste: ginder ale, ale bark, op ale, etc. This period also sees the type of beer “stout”, “scotch” and other dark beers conquer their place in the Belgian brewing landscape. In 1921, the Wielemans brewery located in the Brussels commune of Forest, offers the Crowned Trees Stout, then, in 1926, The Crowned Trees Scotch, softer and sweeter to the taste. The name “Crowned Trees” is inspired by the crowned trees that adorn the emblem of the town of Forest. In the 60s, the Crowned Trees Stout disappears. Only Crowned Trees Scotch continues to be produced. Today, the brewery Wielemans has disappeared also and production of the Crowned Trees Scotch is in the hands of AB InBev. Scotch CTS is probably the most famous scotch in Belgium, served in most bars since decades. Is characterized by its warm and mild taste, with a first attack of coffee. Two different kinds of malt barley and maize are combined with a classic bitter hop variety while yeast gives the beer its fruity aroma. It will ideally be served at a temperature of 5 to 6 degrees Celsius.
